In a world where there are new trends every day and certain “aesthetics” displayed, our emotional well-being can face a few challenges including accepting the way we feel and allowing ourselves to express these emotions in a healthy way that is suitable to us.

Don't get me wrong! It's great that we are shifting focus onto the importance of mental well-being and being open to therapy with no guilt or shame. But there is definitely a glamorized aesthetically pleasing illusion being created across social media about the “healing journey” and “spiritual awakening”. Its definitely inspiring and eye-opening to see how other people approach their healing and the advice they offer however it becomes overwhelming when the only type of posts or videos you see are those individuals going to workout every single day, eating healthy for all their meals, starting their own successful business to find their purpose in life and traveling every other week on a spiritual retreat.

To tell you the truth, I WISH IT WAS LIKE THAT! And to be fair, there are a lot of beautiful moments that we will experience on our journeys but there are also many challenging ones that don’t get displayed on these trends and aesthetics. The tears, breakdowns, inability to “function” sometimes, quitting school or work, and many difficult barriers that we come across. It doesn’t make it better when you start to believe or compare yourself to those you see online that are guaranteed to be going through difficult times as you are but behind the camera.

You don’t have to work out every day to get rid of depression but prioritize physical well-being alongside mental.

You don’t have to eat healthy every meal, but educate yourself on how you can make the most out of every meal you eat in terms of gaining nutrition.

Starting your own business is not guaranteed to fulfill your “life’s purpose”, test out different jobs and experiences to figure out what makes you feel great and what doesn’t.

Traveling is great for sure but it's ok to prioritize that for a later time rather than now, the world will still be out there for you to explore when you are ready.

When we are faced with situations like these, it's important for us to take a step back and acknowledge that our emotions are valid, the situation is hurtful, and that our lives are going to change if we keep pursuing or move on from whatever is causing this dilemma for us. Self-honesty is what needs to be the priority here when outlining the facts of the situation and the reality of its impacts on us, in a previous blog, we talked about how our experiences of childhood shape our adulthood and how limiting beliefs hold us back from exuding our full potential.

Don't be ashamed to express and heal the way that you believe is right for you just because someone else tells you it should be the other way around. Own your power today and allow yourself to be guided.
